Two Months

Two down, 214 more to go...

It's amazing how much you've grown in just one month. I can literally see you changing daily and it's so amazing to watch you develop and reach new milestones. Right now you're going through a growth spurt...well, I'm hoping it's a growth spurt, because you've suddenly changed your eating and sleeping habits. Yesterday I called you a tiny terror because you refused to take your naps and you were up all night the night before, plus you ate so much! I'm hoping this passes and you transition back into a more predictable routine in the next couple of days...

Even though you're cranky these days because you don't want to nap, you're still such a good baby. You like to be propped up on the couch so you're "sitting" with us and can see what's happening. Sometimes it seems as if you know exactly what is happening around you, and you like to add your own two cents to make sure we know you're there. You've gotten much stronger and can hold your head up with considerable less bobble! You love to laugh and smile and your current favorite object is the ceiling fan...you stare at it all the time! You think it's funny when I speak to you in Spanish and you love when we sing to you.

You are always so happy and we look forward to seeing your personality shine in the next few weeks. Thank you for bringing such joy into our lives. We love you!

Date Night

So we had our first "solo" night since baby girl's arrival. We went to Brian's brother's wedding and left Anayah at home with my parents. It was a bit hard to leave her for so long and kind of weird not having her with us but we survived and actually had a good time. It was a nice reminder of what life was like pre-baby. We got to focus on just us for a minute and recharge as a couple.

Baby girl was completely fine and happy to be with grandma and grandpa...doubt she missed us. Perhaps we will have to make a habit of going out at least once a month. We'll see...it's hard to leave this munchkin for even a few hours!

The happy bride and groom...Congratulations you two!!

Play Date

These two were born hours apart in the same hospital, with the same doctor...pretty cool eh? Their moms are friends and they even share the same name! (Their moms, not them, silly.)

At 8 weeks, these two are tipping the scales at a combined weight of almost 25lbs! Chunkers. As you can see, they are both quite content with their size and a bit bored that they have to pose for these pictures.

Oh come on now, you two, you know you love when we take so many pictures. The more we take now, the more we can embarrass you with one of these days. I'm sure Anayah will love the fact that she looks as if she's trying to eat Jack's face in this shot:

And I'm sure Jack will love that his feet look gigantic next to hers in this one (I swear it's just the angle of the shot...it's hard to believe his feet are really that much bigger!)

It's been so cool to have a friend who is literally going through the exact same things I am at the exact same time. It helps keep me sane. I can't wait to see these two grow up together and become buddies. Don't let these innocent faces fool you though, I can see them getting into all kinds of trouble together!

Uh oh.

Finding Our Rhythm

I can't believe it's been over a week since I last posted! Time goes by so quickly these days that I don't even notice! Not sure if that's a good or bad thing just yet...

Now that baby girl is past the six week mark, we've noticed some big changes. She is definitely becoming more social, smiling at us (and random objects), "talking" to us, being more alert, and getting stronger. With this new found social-ness comes adjustments in her sleep patterns as well. I feel like she fights sleep just so she can hang out with us! She is still such a great sleeper at night but her daytime naps are starting to become fewer and fewer. On the plus side, they are longer than before so I suppose it kind of evens out. I know it's kind of early to be setting up routines, but I have been trying to get her on a pseudo-schedule for the past week or two. I think we're slowing getting into a good groove which makes the day go by much smoother. We'll see how long it lasts!

Here are a few of her more recent pictures...can't believe how big she is getting!!

Doesn't she look like she's ready to punch you in the face in the last one?! Haha, she cracks me up! She has SUCH a personality already!!

Project Bathroom

I told you last week I was working on another project. Well, I had hoped to reveal the final product last weekend, but that clearly didn't happen. So I figured with the long weekend Bri and I could knock it out today and have the big reveal tonight, but that didn't happen. We definitely made progress but it's not completely done yet. Baby girl decided she didn't want to nap at.all. today and wanted to be entertained all day. I swear she knew that I really wanted to finish the bathroom project and sabotaged my efforts. Oh well, spending time with her is always more important. Although the control freak in me is itching to have a completed project pronto!

Anyway, here is part of the bathroom before we started (I was originally gonna paint it red...)
Looking into the shower/toilet area (they are separated from the sinks by that door)

Here is what it looks like after we worked on it today. I wanted the "board and batten" look without the big price tag :) so we did it the "cheap" way.

The view from the shower

It's coming along nicely but we have a ways to go. I'll hopefully be able to at least show you the finished wall this week sometime. Oh and I'll post the tutorial on how to create the look the cheap-o way! :)

Enjoy your day off!

Personality In Bloom

If she could speak this is what I imagine she would say:

Mom, you're funny.

Mmm, left over milk from lunch.

You talkin' to me?!

I have no idea what's going on.

If I pretend to be confused, maybe she will stop taking pictures.

I'm so embarrassed.

Peace out peeps.
